CASA Staff Profile

Frank Mele

Time on Board:  Member since 2002

Reason you joined the board: It gave me a chance to use my previous background in health and human services with an organization that had done so much for my then employer, St. Joseph Shelter in Mt. Angel, OR.

Describe your current/most recent job: I retired from St. Joseph Shelter in 2006.

Specific set of skills you bring to the board: I joined my first board in 1968 and have been active on not-for-profit boards since then. So the first skill is experience.  I have a wide array of mistakes made and a few successes gained.  I also have years of experience in management, administration and strategic planning,

Hobbies: Cooking, traveling, reading and gardening.

Describe other board experience (i.e. name of org, time on board, type of org): Since I moved to Oregon in 1999I’ve been on two other boards.  Silverton Arts Association 2007-2010 and Shalom Prayer Center 2007-2015.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I’m still asking that question.

Hidden/special talent: I’m still trying to find it.

If you had a time machine, what year would you go back to and why? I’d go back to 1972, the year our first child was born.

Favorite bumper sticker?  Make love not war.

If you could go on a road trip with anyone (dead or alive) who would you go with and where would you go? My wife,Bernadette.  Anywhere.

Anything else you’d like to share? Being associated with CASA’s has been one of the great joys of my life.
