Garrick Harmel

Manufactured Housing and Cooperative Development Center Director

Tel: (503) 537-0319 Ext. 324

Garrick was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and lived in Montana and Massachusetts before calling Oregon home. It may seem like a stretch, but it was the experience of leading trail crews in western Montana and Idaho that led Garrick to a graduate program, and ultimately into, the field of community development.

Garrick received a Master’s Degree in Community Development and Planning at Clark University in Worcester Massachusetts in 2005. Prior to moving to Oregon in 2007, he worked a short stint as a Design Build Intern at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Vermont and for two Community Development Corporations (CDCs) in Worcester.

Over the last decade, Garrick was the housing developer for Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services in Corvallis. In this role, he developed multifamily projects as well as Community Land Trust homeownership projects. These projects ranged from the smallest Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Project in Oregon (13 units) to an occupied rehab of a historic building in downtown Corvallis. Garrick is excited to join CASA’s Real Estate and Cooperative Development team and expand housing opportunities throughout Oregon. He is most interested in working with an experienced team in a wide array of projects. Garrick’s passion is creating energy efficient, healthy and safe environments.

When not working, Garrick juggles family life, escapes to the outdoors, and tries keeping up with the organized chaos that is life. When planets and schedules align, Garrick can be found brewing traditional and non traditional beer recipes, searching for the perfect homemade espresso shot, running on trails, biking, or solving problems through building things.
